How to get the most out of your Occidental Suspenders

With more than one suspension system to choose from, you’re going to find the one that’s right for you and we want you to get the most out of it. A suspension system upgrades your tool belt to the next level and allows you to work more comfortably. It takes the weight off your lower back and hips, giving you better ease of movement and less chance of icepacks at the end of a long working day. Although you’re moving weight to your shoulders, the sternum strap across the chest is critical in distributing the weight throughout your torso with a better, more secure fit. Just like a hiking backpack, you’re going to have the weight supported by your hips, your shoulders, and your chest, helping you climb whatever mountain you have to climb.

Attaching Your Tool Belt to Your Occidental Suspenders

Occidental has three styles of suspension systems to choose from: Stronghold® Light Suspenders (model 1546), Stronghold® Suspension System (model 5055), and Leather Work Suspenders (model 5009). All of these suspension systems have 4 leather loops at the bottom of the suspender straps. Each loop has a strong metal D ring to support your tool belt.

  • To attach the suspenders to your belt, the D rings should be facing up. Simply slide the loops onto your belt.
  • Once the loops are on your belt, clip the suspenders to the D rings with the open end of the clip facing away from your body. You’re good to go!

Want to upgrade your Model 5009 suspenders to the Model 5055 Stronghold Suspension System?

Our high-quality Model 5009 suspension system is already an improvement to your traditional standalone tool belt, but the ultimate choice is the Model 5055 Stronghold Suspension System. Named the #1 Best Tool Belt Suspender of 2021 by Environmental Design and Construction, this is the best of the best.

The difference between these two systems is the extra level of comfort provided by the padded Cordura yoke. The additional padding gives you some cushion under the straps and the Dri-Lex lining wicks away moisture.

It’s easy for you to modify your Model 5009 suspenders by purchasing the Cordura yolk separately and adding it to your suspension system. The Cordura yolk part number is 5055P and your dealer should be able to order it for you.
