Leather Gear Care

Our leather is custom-tanned to handle tough, outdoor conditions. However, tough gear still deserves smart upkeep.

Brush off jobsite grit daily, and wipe down with a damp rag when things get muddy.
Occasionally shake out the debris from inside bags and pouches.
For deeper grime, use mild soap and water—no bleach, no harsh solvents. Then let it dry naturally.
For occasional cleaning maintenance—about once a year—use saddle soap, a leather cleaner, or mild soap and warm water. Then apply a small amount of non-oil-based leather conditioner. We recommend our Rugged Service Cream.
Store dry, out of direct sun, and your Occidental Leather gear will outlast the job.

* Avoid oil-based products, as they can weaken stitching and shorten the life of the leather.

* Always wipe off mud, concrete, or other drying compounds with a damp cloth before it dries, as these materials can draw out the leather’s natural oils

We're happy to accept returns on new, unused, and resalable items. Please try on your belt at home, before wearing it to the jobsite. We cannot accept returns on used, worn or tool scuffed products.

Items must be returned in new, unused, and resalable condition, along with a valid RGA (Returned Goods Authorization).
Please contact us within 15 days of receiving your order to request a return.
Occidental is not responsible for shipping costs associated with returns or exchanges (unless it was our goof-up).
Refunds can only be made back to the original form of payment on the order.
A $25 restocking charge may be imposed on certain returns.

Well made and soft

I really think this pouch is well made and pretty soft out of the package. The only thing is the tape measure holder is a little small. It fits my 16 foot tape measurer okay, it's just a little snug and there is no way a 25 foot tape measurer would fit inside. If it brakes in and gets a little softer, it might fit a 25 foot tape measurer in side?

Hi, Thank you for the great review! We’re glad to hear you’re happy with the build and softness right out of the box. You’re absolutely right—the tape holder starts out snug. A 25‑foot tape will fit perfectly once the leather has had a chance to break in and form around it.
To speed up that break‑in process, here are a few tips:
Remove the clip from the back of the tape.
1- Lightly dampen the leather front of the tape holder.
2- Wrap your tape in wax paper (wax side out) and insert it into the holder.
3- Add a couple of thin shims behind the tape to stretch the pocket slightly.
4- Let it dry overnight.
The more time your tape spends in the holder, the quicker the leather will mold to it. After a little use, you’ll find the fit just right—even for a 25‑footer.

DURABLE AND BEYOND PERFECT!

I am a concrete carpenter by trade. These bags are the best money can buy. I have had mine for almost 3 years and they haven’t ripped yet! I am exposed to extreme heat and cold and haven’t washed or conditioned them yet and they still have no stitching tips or rips or tears in general. I highly recommend these bags. I will forever be a customer!!
