Left vs Right - What does this mean

In a hand-specific setup, here's how we typically lay things out:

  • Tool Bag (dominant hand side): Carries your main tools (hammer, knife, pencil).
  • Fastener Bag (opposite side): Holds nails, square, bits, etc.

So...

  • If you're Right-handed: Tool Bag on your Right, Fastener Bag on your Left
  • If you're Left-handed: Tool Bag on your Left, Fastener Bag on your Right

Leather Gear Care

Our leather is custom-tanned to handle tough, outdoor conditions. However, tough gear still deserves smart upkeep.

  • Brush off jobsite grit daily, and wipe down with a damp rag when things get muddy.
  • Occasionally shake out the debris from inside bags and pouches.
  • For deeper grime, use mild soap and water—no bleach, no harsh solvents. Then let it dry naturally.
  • For occasional cleaning maintenance—about once a year—use saddle soap, a leather cleaner, or mild soap and warm water. Then apply a small amount of non-oil-based leather conditioner. We recommend our Rugged Service Cream.
  • Store dry, out of direct sun, and your Occidental Leather gear will outlast the job.

* Avoid oil-based products, as they can weaken stitching and shorten the life of the leather.

* Always wipe off mud, concrete, or other drying compounds with a damp cloth before it dries, as these materials can draw out the leather’s natural oils

Made to last.

I really just jumped on here to see if this company is still selling products. I bought my tool belt in the picture well over 12 years ago and it looks like it will last another 12 years. Highly recommend. Is comfortable to wear. Thanks for a great product.

Bought for son

I could not believe the quality of the materials used in this tool case and belt. My son is an electrician and sent us links for the belt and tool holder. Extremely well built, highly recommend!

Electrician Tool kit

The tool kit is very comfortable, leather is folded to not rub the wrong way as you move with it on. I also am impressed with the double layers of leather in common areas where tools can wear through! The entire thing is very well thought out and well made.

I really like this pouch

I really like this pouch. It's a little stiff but I'm braking it in slowly. The only thing that I don't like about it is one of the tip holders is stitched on crooked. I guess you won't notice it once you are wearing it, but I have an OCD problem and I know it's crooked.

I needed a bigger pouch than my old Klein for a job that required "insulated only" tools on a production floor. This pouch worked out well.

Purchased pouch when I was working in Northern California, drove an hour while I was out of town for work to check out Hayward tools & Equipment in Hayward California. Pouch feels very well made with stiff leather and hardware feels solid. Always worn it on a occidental leather back support belt, never drag my pouches, and somehow I have a small tear on a corner of the pouch. I donít know know if I got a pouch with that part of the leather that was thinner than the rest of the pouch. I do oil my pouches once in a while to preserve the leather keep it from cracking itís disappointing, I was trying to make the last tool pouch I buy

Sorry to hear about the developing hole in your bag. While our bags are made with the highest quality leather, it is not bulletproof. Abrasion from both tools and the environment can wear down the natural leather over time, even if treated well.
We do not recommend using any penetrating oils on your bags. These oils can break down the internal fibers of the leather, weakening it and reducing its lifespan. To keep your bags from drying out, we recommend using a chemically neutral surface conditioner such as our Rugged Service Cream or similar product once or twice a year. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly at service@occidentalleather.com to arrange a repair.
