In a hand-specific setup, here's how we typically lay things out:
- Tool Bag (dominant hand side): Carries your main tools (hammer, knife, pencil).
- Fastener Bag (opposite side): Holds nails, square, bits, etc.
So...
- If you're Right-handed: Tool Bag on your Right, Fastener Bag on your Left
- If you're Left-handed: Tool Bag on your Left, Fastener Bag on your Right
How to Size Your Occidental Leather Tool Belt
Don't use your pants waist size! Measure your belt as instructed below.
1 - The best way to get the right size is to measure the Tool Belt you currently wear exactly where you wear it and with the the work clothes you normally wear.
2 - Put the belt on where you would normally wear your tool belt and over your normal work clothes. Note which hole you use to fasten the belt.
3 - Take the belt off, lay it flat and measure from the end of the buckle to the hole you used.
That measurement is your belt size. Compare your measurement to our size chart below.
Tips:
✓ If you don’t have a tool belt, borrow one from a coworker (or you can use a cloth tape measure or length of rope).
✓ If you're between sizes, size up for the best fit.
✓ Do not use your pants waist size!!
✓ Remember, you wear your rig over your pants, regular belt, shirt, hoodie, etc. Size your belt for your work habits.
Our belts are designed to buckle at the midpoint hole, allowing 4" of adjustment in either direction for a secure and customizable fit.

Why not use pant size?
- Pants are made with materials that stretch to fit you. Our belts will form to you over time but are not "stretchy".
- Clothing sizes vary, so a 36” skinny jean fits differently from a 36” relaxed fit.
- Tool Belts are worn over your clothing; pants, regular belt, shirt, hoodie, etc.
- Tool belts usually need to be 3”-7” larger than your waist size, depending on how you wear them.

We're happy to accept returns on new, unused, and resalable items. Please try on your belt at home, before wearing it to the jobsite. We cannot accept returns on used, worn or tool scuffed products.
- Items must be returned in new, unused, and resalable condition, along with a valid RGA (Returned Goods Authorization).
- Please contact us within 15 days of receiving your order to request a return.
- Occidental is not responsible for shipping costs associated with returns or exchanges (unless it was our goof-up).
- Refunds can only be made back to the original form of payment on the order.
- A $25 restocking charge may be imposed on certain returns.

Five stars other than the hammer holster/loop. I hate the hammer loop. I have never understood how people can put their hammer behind their back. I've moved the loop closer to the front pouch but I still have trouble getting my wood handled Stilletto out. I have even tried my old estwing it's better but still a pain. I may have to buy the hammer sleeve. I dont know why that isn't already an option to buy the belt with the sleeve.

The belt felt lighter than I expected. Constructed good hope it lasts.
The only pouches I'll wear. I've had my first set for 9 years and they're still going strong. I just wanted a new set for side work. Always buy American.
The only thing I would change is to make the tape measure holder bigger so It can fit better a 35 feet tape otherwise is perfect!
The comfort level is miles above the box store finest.

Been framing/building homes and been a carpenter for going on 27 years, ive spent a lot a money on bags that would only hold up about a year or so, i finally dropped the hammer and got what ive been wanting for years and I couldn’t be more happy or pleased, when i say these are the best i mean these are literally the best, worth every single penny!

The tape measure holder they give you or to small for a 35' tape even with it stretched out so I have to put the tape in the pick that will hold it which is on the opposite side. So I switch the pouch around but then the snips are on the wrong side. There is no room for a hammer holder on your side without putting one of your pouches behind your back which is very inconvenient. Has no suspenders loops so the suspenders keep falling off the belt along with the pouches everytime you remove the belt. I've ordered the permanent suspenders loops but I have to put them on myself. Overall I'm not very happy with this $500+ purchase.

These bags are spendy but so poor quality slave labor bags. These bags are quality leather and quality built. Why skimp on something you spend your whole day wearing and makes your work day more efficient. I am so impressed with the service from O.L, they were fast to respond and able to get me exactly what I was looking for. Still getting used to my tape and pencils on opposite sides from my old setup but it’s a non issue. So proud I can support a U.S company, these bags are a work of art.
